The purpose of this project is two folds, one is to create an atmosphere in our floorball league that will provide the perfect conditions for local players to develop their skills and understanding of the game at an extremely fast rate. Secondly, to use language as an instrument for culture exchange

 

In order to be successful the project is targeting a special group of individuals that fits these criteria

* Be at least 18 years old

* Have at least six (6) year floorball playing experience (Does not have to play for an elite club)

* English must NOT be your mother language

* Able to understand and speak English

* Ability to teach your native language to a youth group.

* Have a friendly and out-going personality

* Enjoy being involved in volunteer activities

* Be able to live in Jamaica between three to six months

 

The project runs from October 2014 to March 2015

 

Players are required to conduct basic languages classes at least twice per week. The classes will consist of youth between the ages of 12 to 25 year olds, with a total of 25 people in a class.

 

Players will be placed in a floorball club and are required to

* Attend trainings at least twice per week

* Assist with coaching

* Play league games

 

The JFA and Bilingual Jamaica are negotiating with Embassies and Jamaica companies with the aim of

acquiring full finical support for all activities for this project.

 

In some cases the project will ask participants to assist in the engagement with their embassy.

Where applicable, jobs will be sort for players that will assist them in supporting themselves financially

 

The project will arrange accommodations, food, travel, etc. for participant in Jamaica. The aim also is to cover expenses for flight tickets.

The HFF will forward the best applications to the Jamaican Floorball Federation and they will contact the applicants through Skype for an interview.
